How DIBS matches you with jobs

How DIBS Connects Customers and Providers

DIBS is a marketplace where customers post standalone tasks, set their offer amount, and eligible independent providers choose which opportunities they want to accept. No provider is ever automatically assigned. This page explains exactly how eligibility and visibility work.

Paid membership does not provide earlier access to ordinary residential opportunities. Declining an opportunity does not create a penalty. Providers control when they are available and which jobs they accept.

What Factors Into Job Matching?

Service Matching

Your listed services are matched to job requirements

  • •Your selected services are compared to the job category
  • •Current marketplace scope and any applicable eligibility requirements are checked
  • •Your selected service area is validated against job location
  • •You only see jobs that match your services and service area

Trust & Ratings

Verified customer reviews reflect your work quality

  • •Customer star ratings (1–5) from completed jobs are displayed
  • •Your trust score is based on verified reviews, not response speed
  • •Declining or ignoring jobs does NOT lower your trust score
  • •Working fewer hours or accepting fewer jobs does NOT lower your score
  • •Trust information is separate from opportunity access

Eligibility & Access

All eligible providers have a fair opportunity to see jobs

  • •Service category match is the primary eligibility factor
  • •Your selected service area and zip codes determine visibility
  • •Current service, market, and applicable eligibility requirements are checked
  • •Your selected availability schedule is respected
  • •All otherwise-eligible providers see the job — no paid tier gets earlier access

Voluntary Acceptance

Providers control whether they accept opportunities

  • •You are never automatically assigned to a job
  • •You choose whether to review, accept, or pass on each opportunity
  • •Declining a job has zero penalty — no acceptance-rate metric
  • •Response speed is never scored; strikes come only from backing out or missing an appointment after committing, as set out in the signed agreement
  • •Being offline or unavailable has zero penalty
  • •Your schedule is entirely in your control

Membership & Access

Paid membership provides business tools, not job priority

  • •DIBS Pro and DIBS Pro+ memberships see the same ordinary residential opportunities
  • •No paid tier receives earlier access to ordinary opportunities
  • •Membership differences are software, analytics, payout features, and support
  • •Sponsored profile placement is clearly labeled SPONSORED or PROMOTED
  • •STR/B2B opportunities are a separate business channel, not ordinary residential priority

How Jobs Are Distributed

Posted jobs are visible to all eligible providers simultaneously

  • •When a customer posts a job, all eligible providers see it on the job board
  • •The first provider to voluntarily accept gets the job, then has 60 seconds to commit and set an arrival time; if they pass or the time runs out, the job goes straight back to everyone
  • •No provider is pre-selected or auto-assigned
  • •Trust information (ratings, reviews) is displayed for customer and provider reference
  • •The customer sets the offer amount — DIBS provides optional pricing guidance only

Transparency FAQ

Q: Why Was I Shown This Job?

A: You were shown this job because it matches your selected services, service area, and you meet the credential and JobGuard requirements. All eligible providers see the same job.

Q: Why Was I Not Shown a Job?

A: Jobs are only hidden from you if they do not match your selected services, your service area, or you do not meet the credential/insurance requirements. It is never because of your membership tier, response speed, or how many jobs you have accepted.

Q: Does Declining Jobs Hurt Me?

A: No. Declining or ignoring a job has zero penalty. There is no acceptance-rate metric. You control which opportunities you accept and when you are available. Your trust score is based on verified customer reviews and reliability after acceptance, not on how often you accept.

Q: Does Paid Membership Give Me Earlier Access?

A: No. DIBS Pro and DIBS Pro+ see ordinary residential opportunities at the same time. The plan difference is in software, analytics, scheduling, advertising/profile tools, and support — not priority access or permission to perform otherwise blocked work.

Q: Is the Algorithm Biased?

A: We do not use protected characteristics (race, gender, age, religion) in matching. We also do not use response speed, hours online, acceptance rate, or login frequency. Eligibility is based on service match, service area, current marketplace rules, and applicable eligibility requirements.

Q: How Do I Improve My Trust Score?

A: Your trust score is based on verified customer reviews, reliability (not no-showing after accepting), and compliance (credentials, insurance, background check). Complete good work, communicate with customers, and maintain your credentials. There is no speed or volume requirement.
